Content For Your Online Store

I've seen a lot of online store owners talking about the need to write content.    Of course, I agree, your store must have content.

But, that content need not be separate from the products you are selling, nor be on additional pages.   Your content can be (and should be) about your products.  It can be (and should be) on the same page where you are offering those products for sale.

As an online store owner, your site likely already has 50 to 100 or more pages.   Each of those existing pages is a place to put some content.

What you need to do is "J Peterman" your product pages.   At first, you may feel silly.   J Peterman never felt silly though, did he?   And he sure was successful!   (Peterman, The Real Peterman, and, the actual REAL J Peterman too).

You may have to force yourself at first, but before you know it, you will be doing J. proud, AND, you will be doing yourself proud as you rise up in the search results.

Here's an example from my online store, GirlsHorseClothes.com.   I tell the shopper what they need to know, plus a bit more..

Yes, there is more to it than "just talking about" your products.   You can find more here about Search Engine Optimization and Keywords, but, content is always smart... so get started "Petermanning" your product pages!

  1. I so love the style of "talking" on the J Peterman site. He make you feel like you are touching the product, trying it on, imagining owning it.

    Beautiful post girl!

  2. Thank you.

I do find that the J Peterman site misses the mark on keywords. Fabulous in print, though, I'm sure!

  3. Thanks for the tidbit of information (more than a "tid" really). Great SEO advise.
